Terms
Last updated 21 August 2026
The short version. Upload what is yours to upload. Do not use 2L for malware, phishing, harassment, or anything illegal. Reports are read by a person and acted on. Your files stay yours, and we will not delete them because you stopped paying.
Using 2L
You can make links without an account. With an account you also get somewhere to manage them, and links that do not expire on their own. You are responsible for what you upload and for who you give the link to — a link is unguessable but not secret, and anybody holding it can open it unless you put a password on it.
You must be old enough to agree to this where you live, and you must not use 2L on behalf of anybody who is barred from using it.
What you may not upload
- Anything you do not have the right to share.
- Malware, ransomware, exploit kits, or anything designed to damage or gain unauthorised access to a system.
- Phishing pages, fake login forms, or content impersonating a person or an organisation.
- Sexual content involving minors. This is reported to the relevant authorities, always, without exception, and the account is closed.
- Content that harasses, threatens or targets a person, or that publishes their private information.
- Anything unlawful where you are or where we operate.
Programs — files that an operating system will execute, such as .exe, .msi, .apk and .jar — cannot be uploaded without an account, and can be uploaded on Plus and Pro where there is a verified address behind every upload. We do not scan files for malware and do not claim to; treat any program from a link you were sent the way you would treat any program from a stranger.
Reports and removal
Every page that shows uploaded content has a report link. Every report is read by a person, usually within a day. If something breaks these terms it is removed, and its fingerprint is blocked so the same file cannot be re-uploaded under a new name. Repeatedly uploading content that has to be removed ends the account.
If your content was removed and you think that was wrong, write to support@2l.nz with the link. A person will look again.
Limits and fair use
Each plan has limits on file size, storage, links per day and transfer per link per calendar month; they are listed on the pricing section and enforced by the software rather than by a policy. The transfer allowance is per link, so one popular file pauses on its own without affecting anything else you have shared.
2L is for sharing things with people. It is not a content delivery network, a backup service or a place to park an archive you never intend to open. We will get in touch before doing anything about an account that is clearly being used that way.
Paying
Paid plans are billed monthly or annually through Dodo Payments. Cancelling stops the renewal; you keep the plan until the end of the period you have paid for.
Nothing is deleted when a plan ends. After a seven-day grace period the account drops to free limits. If you are over the free storage allowance at that point your links pause — still visible to you, not to the public — until you renew or delete enough to fit. Your files stay yours and stay recoverable.
If something is genuinely wrong with the service, write to us and we will sort it out. We would rather refund somebody than argue with them.
Closing an account
You can delete your account from your dashboard at any time, which removes your links, your files and your record. We can close an account that breaks these terms, and will say why when we do.
An account that has not been signed into for twelve months is dormant. We will email the address on it before removing anything, and give at least thirty days.
The legal part
2L is provided as it is. We work hard to keep it available and your files intact, and we do not promise perfection: keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before whatever went wrong.
If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands. Questions go to support@2l.nz.
