Excel to link
A spreadsheet is the most-shared office file there is and the worst-travelled. It bounces off mail size limits, it opens in the wrong application, and on a phone it usually does not open at all. A 2L link opens the grid in the browser.
Drop anything. Leave with a link.
Drag a file onto this sheet, paste from your clipboard, or choose one below. 2L picks the right way to show it.
Replacing a link’s contents and turning downloads off are part of Plus. See the plans.
Not just somewhere to put it.
The link is the easy part. What matters is the page on the other end of it.
Every sheet, with its tabs
A workbook is not one table. All of its sheets are here, along the top, with the row and column counts on each tab — the same shape the file has in Excel.
A grid, not a guess
Column letters across the top and row numbers down the side, exactly as a spreadsheet is drawn. The first row is NOT promoted to a header, because in a real workbook it is as likely to be a title as a set of column names.
Dates that read as dates
A date in a spreadsheet is stored as a number — 46,259 rather than 2026-08-25 — and it is only a date because of the format its style points at. 2L follows that chain, so a column of dates arrives as dates and a column of prices does not.
Filter without downloading
A filter box narrows the visible rows as you type, on whichever sheet is open. Numbers stay right-aligned, text stays left, and the download is always the original file.
About excel to link
Which spreadsheet formats open?
Are my formulas visible?
How big a workbook can it open?
Is the file changed in any way?
The same box takes all of it.
There is no format menu anywhere in this product. These pages exist because people search for them, not because 2L works differently for each one.
